I graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a masters degree in Liberal Studies concentrating on issues of Human Rights and Social Justice, and Gender Studies. This education experience has transformed me in many ways and prompted me to document my life experiences via my graduate thesis which I hope to publish as a book after graduation. I'm also the co-author of Changes: One Family's Journey with a Transgender Teen which I wrote with my mother and son. Check us out on Amazon!
Over the course of my graduate work, I've been asked to participate in lecture series', panels, and undergraduate courses as a guest speaker on topics plucked from my life ranging from parenting a transgender teen to my personal food journey/lifelong obesity to widowhood to my dissociation from the Christianity of my youth. Stay tuned as future speaking engagements will be listed here.
